Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu is pleased to announce our second workshop for 2024.

Taichi Push Hand Techniques and Yang 9 Duel Routine Workshop

What is Push hands? Push hands is an element of the Duan Wei system created by the Chinese Wushu Association in conjunction with the National Sport Commission and the Chinese Wushu Research Institute to provide an international standard for Wushu/Tai Chi gradings.

Push hands is a two-person training routine practiced to enhance students understanding of martial applications, of attack and defence. The duel routine allows students "hands-on" experience of theoretical implications of the Yang 9 solo routine. With push hands, reflex and sensitivity to another's movements and intent are developed enhancing yin and yang and realising health, meditative, and self-defence benefits.

Push hands complements the solo routine. Push hands allows students to learn how to respond to external stimuli using techniques from their practice routine. Among other things, training with a partner allows a student to develop ting jing (listening power), the sensitivity to feel the direction and strength of a partner's intention. Push hands is a way for students to increase their understanding of tai chi as an internal martial art by experiencing leverage, reflex, sensitivity, timing, coordination and positioning.

It is the perfect opportunity for individuals to gain a greater understanding of push hands in practice.
