In 1975 she was selected into the national team to do a tour of the Mediterranean: Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania among others.

She graduated as a student from Beijing Sports, but continued on as a member of faculty for a further 36 years, doing research, teaching, and training for the University.  During that time, in 1999, Yang Li travelled to Florence, Italy where she performed more research and teaching for 2 more years.  She helped popularise two schools and grow the popularity of Wushu within Italy in general.

During her whole career she has been consistently invited to give talks and workshops around the world: Italy, Spain, Australia and Japan are all countries she has given lectures in.

In her latter years she began to focus on Tai Chi where she contributed greatly to the Taichi community, helping design a number of the Tai Chi Fan routines including: Taichi Fan 18 and Taichi Fan 36 as taught by many schools in Australia.  Becoming an award winning referee for Taichi and appearing many times on Chinese National Television (CCTV) in many Taichi performances. Most recently Yang Li designed the new Yang Style Taichi Fan 28 routine which has become popular in China and internationally with tai chi practitioners.

She has now retired from Beijing Sports but has joined Wulong as a Principle Master and will continue to teach Wulong's students into the future.
